Have you EVER heard the expression "leave well enough alone" (or leave
terrible enough alone?)

Because as bad as it was BEFORE this misguided effort, it now has the
very real potential of being far worse.

So yes I think it is clear to anyone with a functioning brain that we
would be better off doing NOTHING than doing this.

That said, I'm NOT advocating doing nothing. I am advocating rejecting
demagogic simplistic "solutions" that are ill considered, not thought
through and which have no chance of suceeding. I'm advocating NOT
trying to fix what ain't broken.

I'm advocating thought before action Phyllis.

Is that so hard to grasp?

If you consider what the problem really is, you'd understand in an
instant that legislation is NOT an answer.

Let's say you legislated absolute freedom for every doctor in MD to do
whatever the hell they wanted without any fear of any type of
repercussion, either professional discipline, medical malpractice and
even contractual (that no insurance company can refuse to contract with
a doctor who treats Lyme with every expensive drug known to mankind).
And insurance companies have to pay for everything medically necessary
or not so long as a doctor orders it.

Let's say the ERISA law didn't preempt the insurance payment stuff.

There's still be fewer "llmds" in MD than you could count on one hand,
even if you had two fingers amputated.

Did you notice a huge increase in people getting treatment and
treatment paid for in RI after their legislation? Any increase?

NO

Do you know why not?

Because the only "llmd" in Rhode Island left the state.

THe problem is that most doctors don't buy into the chronic Lyme thing.
By most I mean well over 99%. Probably over 99.9%

Given all the freedom in the world they still don't agree.

So what is next?

Are you going to legislate that they HAVE to agree?

And if you try to do that, you are condoning legislative mandates to
doctors--legislators who are NOT doctors, telling doctors what to do!
Forget about professional, academic and intellectual freedom.

Let's call it Stalinist Russia! I bet you'd freaking love it!

But you forget that once you condone it, you might get a legislative
mandate but the mandate that you get is going to be the one you don't
like--the one that 99.9% of doctors agree with-0-the IDSA yale steere
sigal shapiro type standard.

Is that what you want?

Phyllis please tell us: did you learn ANY lessons from this developing
fiasco?

What I can't wait to see is IF they manage to kill the bill (apologies
to Quentin Tarrantino again) will they declare this all a huge success?

And just move on to the next state? Because that is what appears to be
happening.
