well I would say that most doctors have only been exposed to one side
of the argument and haven't spent the time necessary to peer beyond
NEJM and JAMA articles. In fact I would go even further and say that
most doctors go by what they read in harrison's internal medicine, etc.
The ALDF has been active in coordinating with medical schools speakers
like eugene shapiro who have made it their life's work to create a new
class of niggers in this country by which I mean lyme patients.
This all relates to an important issue which is the failure as I
see it of lyme advocacy groups to get their message out in a way which
scientific, intelligent minds are able to accept and consider. I
believe that a convincing case can be made in certain areas to
mainstream medicine vis a vis topics such as seronegativity and
persisting infection as entities which DO occur and recast the debate
into one which centers around the frequency of such events. As things
are now, most doctors are unaware of the existence of these conditions
being more than theoretical. Steere is largely responsible for this
ignorance through his very biased writings and influence in medical
journals and articles in medical textbooks which really are not
scientific in that they do not present the good evidence which
counters his own narrow views and so science becomes propaganda and
steere nothing more really than a marketing agent for smithkline
beecham products vaccines, paxil, etc.
What I was referring to above was doctors morphing into LLMDs who
primarily see lyme patients as opposed to GPs who treat everything.
I think another major factor here is the fear induced by medical
board prosecutions and problems with insurance companies and derision
from ignorant colleagues.
Along these lines I would like to relate an interesting story.
We've all heard of the major LLMD names such as burrascano, leigner,
donta, etc. but a few months ago I was referred by an LLMD to a clinic
in the dallas fort worth metro area which was not doctor moyaad or
golding stein by the way but anyway I went for a visit and was stunned
to find a huge "underground" lyme clinic which occupied the large part
of a strip mall complex, was composed of several doctors and
specialists, had its own infusion clinic, larger than that of many
hospital infusion clinics I have seen. A really massive operation the
likes of which I did not know existed and I had never heard any of the
names of the docs before. It was most bizarre, like I was visiting a
medical version of hangar 18.
I was evaluated there and chose for various reasons to stick with
what I already had. But what blew my mind was the existence of this
place, I mean it was weird because I thought I knew everything about
LLMDs in my part of the country especially. The whole experience left
me with the impression that for everything that we hear about
publically there are many things we don't hear about privately, and
that more than 1% of doctors disagree with steere but do not openly
challenge due to fears about their own livelihoods and reputations, a
fear which has been instilled by the steerites with the same fervor as
the catholic church coerced belief by the fear of hell.
