Re: Steere on Chronic Relapsing Neuroborreliosis

You know that now he is saying his study of Chronic Lyme 14 out of 16
showed
90% have recurrant episodes of arthritis: up from 37% in this study. He
comes pretty
close to saying that without recurrent arthritis you don't have Chronic
Lyme.
The article I am refering to is in the Journal of Infectious Diseases
in 2001;183:453-460. JAMA also published an abstract of that "study"
(Kalish) that year.
What i am getting at is that at the same year Klempner "demonstrated"
futility of further treatment with antibiotics, Steere redefined his
version of "rare but real" Chronic Lyme
in an even more exclusionary way.
I don't know what its like anywhere else, but in Massachusetts Steere
and Klempner define the disease and its treatment for the vast majority
of the medical community.
Very serious business.
