Uh yes I believe that you are REQUIRED not only to do it but to buy it
from the multilevel marketing company that he was a rep for! *rolling
eyes*
Yup Dr Burrascano was repping for a FTC fined multilevel marketing
company and had instructed everyone to use his rep number when making
their purchases. In fact, the very day that the investigation of him he
put up a website with that on it! Real smart thinking on his part. Even
the weak kneed AMA condemns the practice of doctors selling vitamins
and such from their offices at a profit without disclosing that
fact--the problem being that patients trust that the doctor recommends
something because it is good--but in cases where they're profiting
there is an undisclosed conflict of interest. Added to that is the fact
that most doctors do not have any way of knowing that one product is
any better than any other--all they're doing is passing along
unsubstantiated sales claims--and when doctors recommend it they are
implicitly making health claims which is forbidden by the FTC and FDA
(since no one knows if the claims are true and to make the health
claims the FDA would have to approve the product). And of course most
such products do not even contain what is advertised but they do
contain impurities.
Anyway, IMHO Burrascano's list is too long. I say keep it simple. A
multi, an antioxidant (combines A C D E), omega 3s and acidopholous. If
you need something specific, add it--such as I take a B complex because
my homocystene was at the upper end of normal.
As rita stanley recommends, the best thing is to see a good naturopath
and NOT take this kind of advice from your doctor and that the blanket
advice is worthless--your program should be tailored for you!
Good luck martian!
