FYI Libel consists of written defamatory material.
Slander consists of spoken defamatory material.
False light is yet another related cause of action. Some jurisdictions
simply refer to defamation without distinguishing slander and libel.

Why does it matter who he is? Concentrate on what he says instead of
senselessly speculating about who he is. Respond to what is said not
who you think said it.
