Unfreakingbelievable!

Story from the NUTherlands:

An eight-year-old boy was bitten by eleven(!) ticks in May. Since June he has complaints of severe headache, severe fatigue, and pain in jaw.
After several months the GP finally co-operated to do a Lyme-test. Three weeks later the test results arrived: IgG was positive.

The next day the boy was admitted to a hospital on suspicion of neuroborreliosis; also a lumbar punction was taken.
After two days of intravenous antibiotics, the test results of the cerebrospinal fluid arrived: no antibodies and no increasement of white blood cells. The treatment was stopped and the boy was dismissed from the hospital.

A PCR-test will be done, and when it's negative the physician will not take any further action. He referred the boy to a psychologist.
