Partly thanks to the info on a certain website and forum, action was undertaken and the boy will be treated. The mother of the boy sent mails with info to the MD. In pursuance of the mail the MD contacted another MD with experience of treating children with Lyme.

The other MD advised him to treat the boy, because it is not proven that he hasn't got Lyme and because there is a reasonable chance that he does have Lyme. The boy will be admitted to the hospital and treated with IV antibiotics for 4 weeks.
