notice also that heparin can often inhibit binding of these complement
interfering proteins, which would decrease resistance of the spirochete
to complement. heparin has in the past been postulated as a possibly
effective therapy {I believe} because as a glycosaminoglycan it was
thought it might help inhibit borrelia binding to similar substances in
human tissue. of course this theory is kind of dumb, because unless you
can clear the borrelia, you're not really helping yourself anyway.
