You should take the treatment and then find another doctor because what
this one told you about the number of bands needed is not accurate.
This is surveillance criteria, not appropriate in clinical practice.
Most doctors do not know this, so yours is just repeating what the
books tell him. But the book needs to be rewritten.
There are many strains of lyme bacteria. They respond differently to
various antibiotics. So, what works for one person may not work for
another.
You need to educate yourself, join another forum because if you have
had this for a while, you will need longer treatment. Plus, ticks can
pass on other germs along with the lyme. You should be tested for
those too.
The medical establishment doing a poor job with tickborne diseases, so
you are in a buyer beware situation. Get educated to protect yourself.
