neuroborreliosis can definitely damage the pituitary gland. it can also
make a pre-existing hormonal condition much worse. I can't figure how
it would cause overproduction, usually the damage of an endocrine gland
by an ID would be hypo and not hyper. but then again I'm no an expert.
I've heard from several patients that they have a hormonal deficit.
apparently although this hasn't been published there seems to be a
propensity for GH deficiency as seen in pituitary stimulation
testing...however...GH deficiency can occur in many chronic illnesses,
and the deficit may not be directly related to the bacteria, but rather
to the long term holistic metabolic effects of a disabling chronic
illness.
if you do have a hormone deficit, sexual hormones included, you should
seek treatment.

I was just wondering if anyone knows about lyme messing with the
pituitary gland... my last test showed mine over producing... although
not by that much, and the doc gave me dostinex which seems to slow me
down more. I have searched for information... my lyme doc and my endo
do not agree on much... so I think my endo is going to have to go...
just trying to find answers.. thanks
It's very important that endos understand Lyme. I don't know where you
live but there is a Lyme knowledgeble endo in NYC I've been referred to
by my Lyme doc.
Her name is Greene if you're interested.
Take care, G
