Sorry, I lost my sense of humor watching my wife go from doctor to
doctor for seven years of misdiagnoses until her illness became chronic,
now in its 18th year of breaking her down.

I'm sorry. Really. And I appreciate your sticking by her. Not everyone
is able to do so.

Yes, it is dreadful. I have been dealing with it since '98,
myself...and struggling badly..I have trouble walking, speaking...it
has affected my heart...my eyesight....and the lack of understanding
may be the worst thing to deal with...but I still think it is
important, vital, to keep a sense of humor, okay?

I lost my sense of humor in listening to horror stories of other Lyme
victims who are battling the medical profession, health care providers,
and uncaring relatives.

Yes. All the more reason to look for the positive aspects of life. Find
goodness and humor where you can.

I lost my sense of humor in having to deal with it myself.

I'm sorry to hear that. Truly. Laughter is the "best medicine", so they
say.

If Letterman had the disease and is so concerned about it, why doesn't
he try to get laughs out of some other topic, or has he just run out of
fresh material.

Have you ever watched some really dark, humor? Sometimes, the things we
find the funniest are things we fear...it is a way of releasing...to
mock death, disease...yes?

I knew there was a reason that I never found Letterman all that hilarious.

Well, you DO need to have a sense for the absurd...the sort of
out-of-place interjection of oddball zaniness.

I am a fellow Mid-westerner...so maybe I just "get it" better. I have
always found him to be a 'good guy'. I doubt that he really meant any
offense, whatever.

I sort of do understand your reaction, though...I just think we need to
be careful...and be FAIR.
