Re: Stupid, insane articles being posted

Do you believe Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK, with perhaps the 3rd shot
fired by another, and that's about it? No conspiracy?

Well, the stuff you posted is more than a little silly, (as I assume
you are aware).

The question of a conspiracy in the JFK assassination is not so
ridiculous, though.

Years ago, I did what I consider to be some fairly extensive reading on
the subject, including the Warren Commission reports themselves...the
actual published data.

My conclusion was, and still is, that Oswald as the sole gunmen is an
unlikely scenario.

The most powerful evidence weighing against that is the near pristine
condition of the so-called "magic bullet". While it may have been
possible for that bullet to have done what was claimed, it is fairly
improbable.

There is serious doubt whether Oswald's aging Mannlicher-Carcano could
have done what it was claimed to do. FBI tests repeatedly failed.
Oswald would have to have been a damn good shot...and very, very lucky.

There are equal amounts of problems for those who claim Oswald was
merely a "patsy".

There is a persistent problem with this event in American history, and
it stems from this fixation of people of a certain age and their
memories of the "death of Camelot". They want to see this as some sort
of morality play...an American fairytale...where the shining knight is
slain by the forces of darkness

After Kennedy's death, the image of the young, vigorous president,
martyred...the reality gets glossed over. The reality was much more
complex.

I would strongly recommend Seymour Hersh's "The Dark Side of Camelot"
to anyone interested in this event...or the era of "Camelot".

After reading it, I think most will be stunned. What is remarkable is
how many plausible motives there may have been...what reckless and
dangerous decisons came out of the Kennedy Whitehouse...and how
reckless "Bobby and Jack" were in their personal affairs...and affairs
of state, as well. (And I do mean "affairs").

From what I could ever gather, the circumstantial evidence points most
strongly to an organized crime link...perhaps in connection with a
Cuban ex-patriate community in Miami.

(One of the more interesting explanations for the rather curious
behavior of J. Edgar Hoover's FBI after the assassination that has
emerged in recent years, is that Hoover may well have been in the
"pocket" of organized crime in the United States...and basically
"owned" or blackmailed by certain elements).

Some of the more well-researched stuff even pinpoints Sam Giancana of
Chicago along with Santos Trafficante as ordering the assasination...to
be carried out by the New Orleans outfit of Carlos Marcello. Both
Marcello and Trafficante had been rather ruthlessly deported at Bobby
Kennedy's request.

Bobby Kenendy as Attorney General had made some powerful enemies by
going after the Teamsters Union. Organized crime probably loaned a
great deal of money to the Kennedy campaign before the West Virginia
primary of the 1960 election. (This was supposedly arranged by the "old
man", Joe, the father, who had ties to organized crime, himself).

During the actual 1960 election, Italian wards controlled by
mob-influenced politicians (allegedly) helped Kenendy win Illinois and
the election.

So, as the theory goes, the mob felt Kennedy owed them...and Bobby
double-crossed them.

Motive and opportunity and the means to carry it out.

The Mob.

But you didn't hear it from me...
