Deceased Name: Gilbert T. PERKINS

Gilbert T. Perkins Gilbert "Gib" Thornton Perkins, 77, died peacefully
at his home in Landenberg, PA on Sunday, January 18th, 2004 after a
long battle with Lyme disease.

Born in Rugby, VA, he was the son of the late George B. and Daisy O.

Dr. Perkins served during World War II.

He was a polymer chemist at the DuPont Company, working at various
sites in the Wilmington, DE area and Beaumont, TX for 27 years.

Dr. Perkins was a sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and was an
avid vegetable gardener.

He was active in the community, serving as London Britain Township
Supervisor and Avon Grove Little League umpire.

He supported the local Boy Scouts.

He was the husband of Regina A. Perkins with whom he shared 48 years of

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 sister, Fina Mae Sheets,
of Mouth of Wilson, VA; 1 brother, Albert Perkins of Marion, VA; 4
children, Karen Probst of Hubbardston, MA, George Perkins of Glenallen,
AK, Gwen Galligan of Kemblesville, PA and Neal Perkins of Landenberg,
PA; and 7 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by son, David Perkins; and brothers, Reeves Perkins,
Rudolph "Doc" Perkins and O. Rex Perkins.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration from 7-9
pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at the CLEVELAND & GOFUS FUNERAL
HOME, Inc., 221-223 Pennsylvania Ave., Avondale, PA 19311.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Saturday, January 24 at
Faith Lutheran Church, Highway 58, Whitetop, VA 24292.

The funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday at the church.

Interment will be at Cabin Creek Cemetery, Mouth of Wilson, VA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of
America, Chester County Council, 504 South Concord Road, West Chester,
PA 19382.
