Re: CILLI: the ILADS guidelines

Your comments betray your ignorance of the grading system for evidence-
based guidelines.

The evidence supporting the ILADS guidelines is better than the
evidence supporting the IDSA guidelines.

Strength of evidence is denoted by categories A-E (A=good, B=moderate,
C=optional, D=should not be offered, E=contraindicated)

Quality of the data is denoted by Roman numerals I-III (I=at least one
randomized controlled trial supports the recommendation; II=evidence
from at least one well-designed clinical trial without randomization
supports the recommendation; III=expert opinion)

IDSA has one A-II entry; the rest are B and lower. They have no
evidence for their recommendations in 5 categories (including
prolonged antibiotics and retreatment). Therefore their
recommendations in those categories are based solely on their own
opinions.

ILADS has 4 at the A-II level, including A=II on retreatment and
prolonged antiobiotics, and one at A-III. They have 4 at the B-III.

The ILADS guidelines panel was also superior to that of the IDSA and
adhered more closely to the Institute of Medicine's recommendations
for guidelines panels to represent diverse interests: the ILADS panel
included primary care clinicians, researchers, international leaders
and a representative from the patient community.

Maybe you can get a bit more information about things before telling
the world about everything.

IMO:
-It is a joke that they call themselves "international".
-Their guidelines are for a huge part opinion-based.
-How can they call it treatment guidelines?
