As I posted on the diabetes news group, this is true for the
"average" diabetic and possibly for the average patient who
has had a heart attack or stroke. But important factors were
not taken into account at all, at least in the ones I have
read. Statistical studies can be used to advise them, but
not the current ones, which are done simplistically. It is
not the case that one can ignore the hundreds (probably an
underestimate) of additional factors, and one cannot control
most of them in the studies. For example, on the amount of
LDL, I come out somewhat high, but on the ratio of LDL to HDL,
very definitely on the low side.
