Atkins is a bull*** diet

   Unfortunately, my parents have been sold on this diet for years.

  I live at home with my folks and they stock the cubbards with practically
everything "low carb".

  Yet my mother's cholesterol is now high, my dad's blood pressure is no
better.

   Hey, I'm a vegetarian so I have to cook for myself. It's no fun living
with people that think whole wheat bread will make you fat, and that orange
juice is the same as coca cola. I've eaten this "low-carb pasta" and
frankly it tastes disgusting.

  And you know what, of all my family, I am the least overweight. Only
about 15 lbs or so. If I got a bit more exercise maybe I could get the
weight off. And cut out a few sweets. But you know what, I'm happy being
a little portly, my BP and cholesterol is great... and if I go golfing or
walking once a week my pulse is good.

  I'm not being a food/health Nazi, but please, this Atkins stuff has gone
on too long unchallenged. All the weight you lose is water weight and it
makes you smell bad (bad bread, bad farts, whatever). In addition, the diet
is high in protein, especially animal protein. This means the planet will
not be able to sustain 8-9 billion Atkins dieters. Somebody will have to
starve to death. So sorry brown peoples of the world, we need your wheat
and rice to feed our Atkins approved cows...
