How do I know how much salt to eat?

The weather in London has been quite warm recently, and the office is
30 degrees (86 Farenheight). I normally don't add salt to my food, and
I woke up with cramp in my leg, which wasn't the first time either. I
bought some salty snacks (crips, nuts, and bombay mix), and the problem
went away. How do I know if I am now eating the right amount of salt,
or do I need to wait to get cramp and then increase my intake?

Thanks.
