SFAs are bad for you because they are Solid at Body Temp

Montygram never responds to criticisms. And, in spite of all the
garbage written by Montygram saturated fat (SFAs) and therefore coconut
oil is obviously bad for you.

"Why should I be modest? I have created a totally unique health program

called the Natural Health Perspective tm. What have you done?"

Why is saturated fat obviously bad for you.

I publically answered this question and defended myself on these very
ngs some 5 years ago on Jun 28 2000, 7:00 am. in a thread with 342
posts!

"Animal Fat is mostly saturated Fat. Saturated Fat is solid at body
temperature. You don't have to look further than that for a
biochemical
mechanism. That solid crap is very effective at clogging up plumbing.
And,
your arteries ain't much different from pipes when it comes to dealing
with
crap.

Animal protein is a carrier of animal fat. It also causes a uric acid
problem. Protein itself is NOT much of a problem when kept between 9
and
15% of total caloric intake."

I was challenged for a reference by Alf, and easily came up with the
following.

"What makes saturated fats 'bad' and essential fatty acids 'good'
relates to
the function of essential fatty acids in the body and how saturated
fats and
hydrogenate oils interfere with this function.
....
Phospholipids play a major role in determining the integrity and
fluidity of
cell membranes.
....
A phospholipid composed of a saturated fat or trans fatty acid differs
considerably in structure from a phosholipid composed of an essential
fatty
acid. ... The degree of difference is illustrated by the DIFFERENCE IN
FLUIDITY [i.e., saturated fat are solid at body temperature] among the
various fatty acids.
....
A diet composed largely of saturated fat, animal fatty acids
(arcachidonic
acid), cholesterol, and trans fatty acids leads to membranes that are
much
less fluid than the membranes of an individual consuming optimum levels
of
both essential fatty acids.

A relative deficiency of essential fatty acids in cellular membranes
makes
it virtually impossible for the cell membrane to perform its vital
function--to act as a selective barrier that regulates the passage of
certain materials in and out of the cell. ... In other words, with a
disturbance in cellular membrane structure or function, virtually all
cellular processes are disrupted.

According to modern pathology (study of disease processes), an
alteration in
cell membrane function is central factor in the development of cell
injury
and death. Without a health membrane, cells lose their ability to hold

water, vital nutrients, and electrolytes."

I really don't like having to repeat myself, Montygram. Perhaps, if you
were to search the archives?
