Pritikin studies used combined exercise + diet regime. From other studies we
know that exercise helps in type 2 diabetes. Based on what you have so far
told about us about the Pritikin studies, there is no way we can draw a
conclusion that diet helped, at all.

There so many questions about these studies:

1) Why only combined regimen? Why not to have also diet only (and perhaps
also exercise only) group.

2) Why other kind of healthy anti-diabetic diets such low barb diet were not
included as a different group? Now we don't really know how the Pritikin
diet would have compared with the low carb diet (although from other studies
we can deduct it is worse). Hey, we don't even know, if it helped at all,
perhaps exercise covered its weaknesses?

3) What exactly were the results? Were they satisfactory according to the
current standards in the treatment of type 2 diabetes? Susan seems to think
that they weren't.

I think you have not told us even nearly enough about the Pritikin studies.
If you have access to them, how about posting here the essential parts of
the studies or alternatively making them temporarily visible on a web site
of your choice, so we could read them.
