Re: Researchers Discover Mechanistic Link Between High-Fat Diet and Type 2 Diabetes

>>Just curious, is that a reduction in death or a reduction in occurance of? <<

There has been a dramatic (>50% reduction) in death from cardiovascular
disease in the USA since the 1950s, which tracks brilliantly with
reduction in consumption of saturated fat and smoking, although medical
advances (mainly drugs, anti-hypertensives, anti-lipemics, etc. plus,
to a lesser extent, surgery) get partial credit.

About 50% of the time, the very first symptom of cardiovascular disease
is sudden death, so, almost by definition, a reduction in the incidence
of cardiovascular disease means that there is also a reduction in death
rates.

Incidentally, if your resting pulse rate is less than 50, you only 1/2
the risk of having your first symptom of cardiovascular disease being
sudden death than if your resting heart rate is above 70.
