Patrick, this sounds like good, sound advice. So... I don't
understand--what's the point of taking vitamins at all if a good
balanced diet is all you need? It's a huge industry.
Alex,
You partially answered your own question. It's a huge, and add very
profitable, industry. While there are some instances where a
supplement might be beneficial, in most cases the only reason is
because the diet is lacking wholesome foods and/or variety.
Or is it just
that some people have such poor diets that taking vitamins is a
guarantee that they'll get essential vitamins and minerals?
They think it is. But they don't understand a pill is no replacement
for healthy foods.
Or there are some who think if some [vitamins] are good, more is
better. But it doesn't work that way. Too much of some vitamins can
block the absorption of others (getting your vitamins from food you
won't run into this problem).
So, again, eat nutient dense...eat fresh, natural whole foods and let
nature take care of the rest... besides, natural foods taste MUCH
better than vitamin pills.
Patrick
Three things. First, just find out what foods are nutrient dense
(whfoods.com is a good start) then use these foods as a base your diet.
Second, always eat wide variety of natural whole foods. Third, then
let nature take care of the rest.
