The study didn't directly measure heart disease events. It was a 12-week
study! It looked at a variety of effects that relate to heart disease.
Weight loss and % fat are certainly relevant.
As to whether the sponsors influenced the results or conclusions, I can't
say. I can't even really make sense out of the abstract, and the news
reports are worse.
