Wheat plants are just as beautiful living things as any dumb
cow. All animals must eat living things in order to live
themselves - it's the way we all are made. The ethical
posturing of vegans basically says that God didn't know
what he was doing when the universe was made, and
vegans know enough to correct his mistakes.
I'm 95% vegan because that gives me great nutrition and
great tasting food. Yes, I crush little wheat babies alive
to make my bread, I happily chomp green pea babies alive
too, not to mention a few other things. I'm just obeying
the basic ways of animal life on this planet.
So, skip vegan ethics.
