Take Heart.

I read Abraham Hoffer's article "Niacin, Coronary Disease and
Longevity," recently. It's not a recent article, but it's very
timely. Much of what he writes about dates back before the time of
wide-spread statin theraphy. It appears, now, that many of Hoffer's
theories about the effects of niacin therapy have become widely
accepted, even by most statin manufacturers.

Hoffer posed other possibilities, twenty years ago, that demand
consideration. When Hoffer says, "It is possible the beneficial
effect of niacin is not due to the cholesterol effect but is due to a
more basic mechanism," I take heart.
