There is an essay on the left entitled, "Fish oil quotes you might
want to read," that I suggest everyone considering supplementation
read before they do. I make it a point to avoid all omega 3s and all
but tiny amounts of omega 6s. My great grandfather lived to be over
100 with no source of omega 3s for decades, and he was in good health
until he died of a bad bout of the flu.
I wonder whether there's a natural tendency to avoid omega-3 in foods if it's bad for you. A friend of mine avoids all seafood like the plague, but I love it and always have. Perhaps she's got an internal environment which keeps her away from omega-3s for a very good reason, and I don't.
If so, taking pills might be a bad idea, since it prevents people from actually tasting what they're ingesting!
