Re: Valh's problems with H. pylori, part 2.

Thanks again Monty,

First of all, you are taking so many supplements, it's impossible to
tell if one of them (or more than one, possibly a combination) is
causing your problems. The funny thing is that I was on a similar
diet, taking similar supplements, back in the late 1990s. Then I
stopped producing stomach acid and almost died, getting all kinds of
other problems while wasting away, such as severe osteoporosis (in my
late 30s!). So my first idea is to stop the supplements. You can
take less and less if you don't want to stop everything immediately.
But after not taking any for a few weeks, see if the symptoms begin to
go away.

From my diet program, I am getting all the amounts I need of calories, protein, vitamins, minerals, lipids and the important amino acids. But that doesn't mean that they are being absorbed. I wanted to get the measurements inside my body to see what I might be deficient in. I did have some shortages but the vast majority were on target. As I noted in my first reply I have dropped my supplement list way down.

I now take very small amounts of vitamin D, nutritional yeast, and
calcium and magnesum citrate (never at the same time) each day, then
some copper and zinc once in a while. You don't need much if you are
not exposing your body to too much stress, which brings us to the next
point: stop the "EFAs" (dietary or supplements). They are not
essential in any way (unless possibly if you are growing or pregnant
and have a poor diet), and can only do you harm. If you want to read
more about this, my free site covers this issue in detail:

How large a dose of EFAs are you thinking of? Would 7g/day of EFAs + lignans make such a difference? I am taking that much coconut oil too. I could drop the EFAs for now and take 14g of coconut oil. I take 4,000 IUs of vit D3 and, from all the recent discussions of this vite, it's about right for someone who doesn't sunbathe.

I also have the impression that a person who is feeling well is not necessarily so. We need to know what is going on in our bodies and for that we need to measure regularly.

I had a brother-in-law who had a brown spot on his back for decades. He never bothered it and it never bothered him. Then one day he found swellings in his armpits. He visited a doctor and received the bad news.
He had melanoma and was dead 2 weeks later. The fact is, we don't know much about what is going on in our bodies, unless we measure.

You can also contact me through the message service there.

Thanks. I'll visit there soon.

Lastly (for the time being), more high-quality protein is needed.
Boiled eggs, milk and/or cheese, gelatin. Take a look at the RDA for
protein and get a little bit more than that for now. However, only
get it from the above sources.
Do not include the protein listed for
things like grains or tofu (and I suggest avoiding tofu, though things
like miso, in small amounts, are okay, if naturally fermented). You
can also avoid insoluble fiber, which you'll find in beans and oats,
for example. That is just anti-nutritive, and only "beneficial" if
you are eating food items that are very unhealthy (for example, it
will get rid of some oxidized cholesterol, though there is no reason
to eat food with oxidized cholesterol in it in the first place).

My main daily sources at present are barley, rye, oats, wheat-berry breads, peanuts, minor amounts of legumes - like 50g/day, broccoli, tofu and small amounts of cheese. I don't eat eggs, gelatin nor drink milk. I also take a Whey Protein Isolate with 15g protein/day.

I have been under the impression that insoluble fiber was the main mechanism for clearing the gut and that colon cancer was the result of little or no insoluble fiber. Dropping cereals out of my diet is not easy.

And as I asked in the last message, do you know if you are producing
enough stomach acid?

I don't know but right now my digestive system is functioning well apart from the bathroom visit frequency. I have been taking several brands of enzymes with/without probiotics. One combination works fine and the digestive process appears to be close to normal. However, that does not mean that all is ok.

At present I am pondering taking the antibiotics and ranitidine and then looking for the "leak," as someone aptly called it, between my bloodstream and my digestive system.

Thanks again for your suggestions.
