Beta Sitosterol vs. Saw Palmetto

Hi everyone,
I am the one who is suffering and not recovering from a TURP (see post dtd
4/24/05). I am thinking of getting some beta sitosterol and trying it or
maybe some saw palmetto, if I can't find it without sending away. I have a
couple questions.
First, what are your feelings on taking the more concentrated beta
sitosterol vs. saw palmetto (which has beta sitosterol in it). It seems
that the prostatitis and BPH newsgroups have more discussions on saw
palmetto. I read all the hype that beta sitosterol has thousands of times
more beta sitosterol than that which is contained in saw palmetto (and that
the active ingredient in saw palmetto is beta sitosterol). If this is true
than is there a risk in taking such high dosages. Please give me your
feedback on the two, and which one works better in your experience.
My second question relates to whether there could be a risk for me to take
either one of the two at this time when I am suffering and not recovering
from my TURP which was 3-1/2 weeks ago. Do you think that it could in any
way slow my healing process or make the inflammation I have worse, or could
it possibly help the healing process and lessen the inflammation.
Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks...Pete
.
