thank you murphy for your help. i guess i will just have to wait and see.
these uros are not very helpful in giving the patient any understanding on
what is expected. they give you pills and send you away. take care
I have chronic bacterial prostatitis that responds well to antibiotics. But,
usually, the doctor will express some prostate fluid and run a culture to
determine the bug and prescribe an appropriate antibiotic. There is a lot of
debate about how best to do the culture. My bug has consistently been shown
to be E-coli.
That being said, my symptoms usually start with increased frequency of
urination, burning and pain on urination, and *** discharge. But no pain
other than that and it usually goes away after a few days on the ABX. I
continue the ABX for 30 days which is well after the symptoms have
disappeared. I have also tried prostate massage along with the ABX and I
believe for me, it does help. That is, the period between relapses is
extended. I can usually expect a relapse in 6 to 12 months. My wife does the
massage and she can tell when the prostate is swollen and can also see that
swelling go down after a few massages. This has been going on for more than
30 years. My initial experience was severe abdominal pain that went away
quickly with ABX but that subsided somewhat over the years. I have often
wondered if that initial attack had been treated more aggressively (ie.
longer), would I still be having this problem. The doc only gave me two
weeks of Bactrim. My worst experience a number of years ago was when I
thought I would tough it out and see what happened. The pain got
excruciating, testicles inflamed, bloody discharge, high fever. But this
responded well to ABX and I haven't tried to tough it out again after that
experience. I know when it starts and go on ABX right away.
I know that guys who have chronic pelvic pain syndrome may scoff an what I
say and I know that they are in the majority. I really don't know what they
are going through but then, they don't know my experience either. I am not
trying to sell anyone on Tuscon or Feliciano protocols and I have not been
to any of those places.
