Not in Ohio--when my Norwegian Elkhound died, I couldn't get in touch
with my vet. I called a local funeral home where a representative told
me to meet him at the back door, that they cremated pets routinely.
Within several days they called and had me pick up his ashes which
were in a beautiful sealed urn with his name on them.
It was a gratifying experience, and I shared the experience with my
vet when he got back in town. My vet wrote the funeral home a thank
you note, and that was the beginning of a relationship that still
exits. My vet said he is pleased to offer his clients that alternative
to disposal of their pet's remains.
