((I worked for an entity where the work was "assigned" ))
Oh, does that bring back memories. When I worked at the hospital, another MT
became our temporary supervisor due to the illness of our regular one. Well,
this MT decided to "assign" our work. Since it was by the minute, she gave
each of us 60 minutes to transcribe on our shift. When that was done, we would
supposed to come back for more.
There were two of us who worked the swing shift. We were the most productive
and finished those 60 minutes easily and needed more. However, by this time
our MT supervisor had long gone home so at this point we went back to the way
we always had done the work, taking the next one to pop up in the queue.
Our MT supervisor discovered that some of the day shift people didn't finished
their 60 minutes. This meant that some of the critical jobs that we couldn't
get to because they had been "assigned" to someone else weren't done until the
day shift got to them the next morning. This made them late getting into the
charts.
She stopped assigning the work by the end of the week. LOL
