((at least the other DID put his life on the
line in Vietnam....Kerry (at least served in a heroic capacity) ))
I found the following of interest. Interpret it as you like.
//////////////////////////////////////////////
NOT WITH A STRAIGHT FACE
By Fred Marshall Jr.
July 30, 2004
How can anyone keep a straight face and say "I want John Kerry to be
President."?
Consider what is known. We know:
1. That he’s a "fake warrior."
a. He recommended himself for a Silver Star for something that should have
resulted in his court-martial: beaching the boat under his command,
unnecessarily exposing the boat and its crew to danger; pursuing and killing a
wounded and unarmed enemy combatant the Geneva Convention requires soldiers to
capture, provide medical care, and interrogate; and leaving his assigned area
of operations (AO), abandoning his mission, for the purpose of hightailing it
back to headquarters to submit his own recommendation for an award for himself.
b. During his immediate unscheduled trip back to headquarters to submit his
recommendation, he went to the PX and purchased an 8mm camera and two rolls of
film, then took his crew back up the river and had them film a re-enactment of
the alleged event.
c. He recommended himself for a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts. The
first Purple Heart "self-recommendation" was turned down, and laughed at, by
his outgoing commander, so he resubmitted it to the incoming new commander and
got it approved, probably signed in the stack of papers every new commander
faces the first few days of his command.
d. The doctor who "treated" Kerry for his ONLY officially-recorded wound is
a retired physician who recalls vividly the incident. He said Kerry came in
with a small metallic sliver visible in his arm, claimed that his Swift Boat
crew had come under enemy fire and this sliver was a bullet fragment. The doc
wondered why he had not pulled it out with his fingernails and gone on about
his business, but went ahead and used sterilized forceps to extract the foreign
object (doctors aren’t permitted to use fingernails). He says no suture was
needed and he applied antibiotic ointment and a band-aid to cover the "wound."
He said he questioned the two crewmembers who accompanied Kerry and they said
they had NOT come under fire, but that Kerry had been playing and dangerously
fired a mortar into a huge pile of rocks and they suspect a piece of the
resulting shrapnel must have ricocheted and hit him, or maybe he just punched
it into his own skin. They were not sure, but insisted they had not
encountered any enemy fire.
e. The day following the issue of his third Purple Heart, Kerry returned to
Headquarters and submitted his request for curtailment of tour of duty, based
upon a little-known Navy regulation permitting thrice-wounded sailors to go
home. The same rule technically was available to members of the Marine Corps
(part of the Navy) but the Marine Corps Commandant did not permit such
applications; either a single wound was sufficiently serious to require
stateside medical care, or Marines were returned to duty until their year had
been completed. The key ingredient here is that real soldiers and real leaders
never willingly "desert" their men and their unit. Countless combat veterans
beg to go back to duty with their units even when their wounds will not permit
it. Not Kerry; he begged to go home.
f. The Kerry campaign featured, on its website and other places, a
photograph taken on January 22, 1969, at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, picturing Kerry
and 19 other officers of Coastal Division 11 immediately following a command
meeting with General Creighton Abrams (CINC of all forces in Vietnam) and
Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, Commander of all Pacific Naval Forces. When the
photograph appeared in campaign ads promoting Kerry as a Vietnam hero, Swift
Boat Veterans for Truth contacted surviving members of this group to find out
how many actually support John Kerry, and discovered that of 19 Swift boat
skippers pictured other than Kerry, 11 consider him unfit, 4 are neutral, two
have died, and 2 are working with the Kerry campaign. Four other officers were
not present for the photo session; all oppose Kerry. Only 2 of John Kerry's 23
fellow Swift boat commanders, from Coastal Division 11, support his candidacy
today. And it’s a reasonable bet that those two are being well paid for the
images they help to project. This group has filed suit to get a court order to
stop Kerry from using the photo, as it implies all pictured actually support
his candidacy.
Note: Since I typed the paragraph above, word has been received that one of
the two who have been working with the Kerry campaign NOW says that Kerry is
unfit (will he give back the money?) so that leaves only one of 23. Not very
good numbers to brag about, are they? Here are the photographs, with the
second one updated at this website:

Photo of the Swift Boat Commanders (four not included)
of the Navy's Coastal Division 11, taken at Tan Son Nhut
Air Base on January 22, 1969, following their attending
a meeting with four-star General Creighton Abrams and
three-star Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, Jr. Abrams was CINC
of all forces in Vietnam and later went on to command the
entire U.S. Army. Zumwalt was Commander of all Navy
forces in the Pacific and went on to command the entire
U.S. Navy.
g. Admiral Zumwalt, when asked if Kerry was an effective leader, instead of
answering the question, called him a "loose cannon."
h. Virtually all of the Vietnam veterans’ organizations oppose Kerry
vehemently. There is one called "Vietnam Veterans for Kerry," but no one has
thus far been willing to reveal the number of members it claims. I personally
suspect the President and CEO is John Kerry. I recently attended the Special
Forces Association Convention 2004 in Las Vegas, attended by some 1,800 Vietnam
veterans, and anti-Kerry banners and lapel buttons could be seen throughout the
venue. Is it morally possible to support our troops and, simultaneously,
support a candidate for President the vast majority of them bitterly opposes?
Can we honestly say that we support our troops yet vote to elect a
commander-in-chief under whom they wish not to serve?
i. When Kerry returned from Vietnam, after having served barely
one-third of the normal tour others served, he attended and participated in
anti-war and anti-American rallies and activities....some while still on active
duty in the Navy....and gave false testimony before Congress that atrocities
were routine and commonplace in Vietnam, demonizing and denouncing the very men
with whom he later claimed to have proudly served.
2. That Kerry owns millions of dollars worth of stocks in corporations which
outsource much of their work to overseas employees, and is heavily invested in
the pharmaceutical industry where profits can go as high as 25,000 percent.
Early in 2004 he dumped a bunch of those investments when it looked as though
he had a chance to win the Democratic primaries….Politics 101.
3. That Kerry owns eight multi-million-dollar homes, and paid only $90,000 in
income tax, as compared to $250,000 paid by George Bush, who has a net worth
about one/twenty-fifth that of Kerry.
4. That, from John Edwards’ Convention speech and several speeches by Kerry,
he intends to establish one standard education system (which means a government
indoctrination system of public schools) and make home-schooling illegal, along
with closing (or controlling) all private and religious schools.
5. That Kerry is against everything military. He has voted against, over his
nearly-20 years in the Senate, every single program intended to upgrade,
improve, or add to the weaponry and technology used by our military, and has
voted against every single proposed raise in military pay and benefits. He has
not supported even one bill favorable to the United States Armed Forces or the
defense of our country. In fact, he has blocked….with the help of Ted
Kennedy, Tom Daschle, Robert Byrd, and John Edwards….for nearly a year, the
recently-passed bill which will afford medical coverage to National Guardsmen
called to active duty. It is interesting to note that he has, since early this
year, publicly criticized GWB for "denying" our servicemen medical care, never
mentioning that it is he who has relentlessly blocked it so that it wouldn’t
get to the President for signature….Democratic Politics 101.
6. That he has repeatedly stated he would not deploy the U.S. Armed Forces in
any role without first getting permission from the United Nations. That means
there would no longer be any sovereignty for the U.S., but our destiny would be
under the direction of the Communist-run United Nations.
7. That he has repeatedly said he would raise taxes, though he makes it sound
as though he means he will raise them only on the "ritch." He has never given
any details….just vague general class-envy comments….but the pie-in-the-sky
things he promises to the have-nots cannot be even considered without some
source of funding. To a Democrat in Congress, the only source of funding is
the American citizens’ pocketbooks.
8. That he supports homosexuals and their deviant lifestyles, and supports
same-sex unions and marriages, which most Americans vehemently oppose.
9. That Kerry is staunchly against the private ownership of firearms, even by
law-abiding citizens who wish to have a means of self-defense and protection of
their families. He favors rigid gun control by the government. Throughout his
career in the Senate, he has consistently attained a rating of ZERO by the
National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America, for his position on
Second Amendment issues. When Kerry said, in his Convention speech, that he
would appoint an Attorney General who would uphold the Constitution, did he
mean "all but the Second Amendment?"
There are many other issues we could itemize here, but a few major questions
should come to mind in the brain of anyone who thinks for himself/herself:
a. In the long litany of things Kerry has promised to do should he become
President, why has he never introduced a single bill to accomplish any of them
over his nearly-20 years as a United States Senator?
b. If he is so in favor of the issues concerning "the working man," why has
he consistently voted against any and all proposed legislation intended to help
working Americans, such as initiatives designed to reduce the cost of health
care, reduce taxes on middle America, and so on?
c. If he is such a great war hero, and if he earned his three Purple
Hearts, why has he steadfastly refused to authorize the release of his Navy
medical records? Is it because he knows they will show he received no formal
medical treatment for the so-called "wounds," or is it because the records
would show, as some Navy personnel allege, that there is evidence two of the
"wounds" were self-inflicted?
d. Since he managed to pay only $90,000 in income taxes this past year
(while Bush earned significantly less but paid $250,000), should we believe him
when he says he will remove tax loopholes for the "ritch?"
e. Now that we know that 22 of 23 Navy commanders who knew Kerry in 1969
say he is unfit to command U.S. Forces, and we know that two of the crewmembers
who served under his command on the Swift Boats, though denied a platform by
the mainstream media, say he is a phony to his very core, should we consider
voting for him to replace our present CINC who has raised military pay and
benefits by 28% in just under four years, and under whom recruiting and
retention rates have reached all-time highs (since WWII), and under whom
National Guard recruitment and retention rates are unparalleled in all of
history?
To any doubting Thomases, and to all who are considering voting the Democratic
ticket, I suggest a little research. I suggest you examine and compare the
Communist Manifesto, the Communist-inspired officially-stated goals of the
United Nations, and the Democratic Platform. The differences you will find are
so minute as to not be worth mentioning. The Democratic Party which existed
during the FDR and Harry Truman years has long since disappeared. But the
self-anointed leaders have fooled most of the rank-and-file Democrats, for more
than 45 years now, into believing that the Party cares about its people. It
does not. There is no evidence, beyond rhetoric, that it does. I will feast
on crow for anyone who can show me evidence to the contrary.
I watched the major speeches of the Democratic Convention, then followed each
by finding the written text on the Internet and reading it. Sometimes we see
the real meaning of words and phrases in the written text that we didn’t
fully grasp when listening in the emotionally-charged environment of the
convention, especially when delivery is often interrupted by cheering and
applause, or blurred by pundit commentary. It’s amazing to realize what is
unheard or misunderstood in the oral presentations.
All week I noted there were TV promotions for a program called "Last Comic
Standing" and I thought the Convention could appropriately be labeled "Last
Comedian Standing." Predictably, that would be John Kerry but, undeniably, all
those who went before him certainly qualified as comedians (based upon what
they said, anyway).
The most hilarious, bar none, was when Bill Clinton said that when his country
called, John Kerry said "Send ME!" I skinned my knee when I hit the floor
laughing. John Kerry volunteered for Swift Boat duty when it was a rather safe
ferry-boat operation, transporting men, supplies, and equipment between
relatively secured locations. While he was in school learning to command a
Swift Boat, Admiral Zumwalt changed their mission to a combat role. When Kerry
arrived, he had no choice but to perform the duty for which he had volunteered.
To claim he volunteered for combat duty is deliberately disingenuous on his
part.
Despite the undeniable and well-documented facts recounted above, there will be
liberals who will parry by asking such asinine and unrelated questions as where
are the pictures of Bush in Vietnam, where is his band of brothers, where are
the WMD, when did Iraq attack America, etc., ad infinitum. All avoid the issue
we face fewer than 100 days from now.
No one, who can vote for John Kerry in November, can do so with a straight
face, without admitting either that (s)he has not informed him/herself of the
facts or that (s)he is a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat who would vote for Mickey
Mouse if his name were followed by a capital D.
Someone famous once said the following:
"He who knows NOT, and knows NOT that he knows NOT,
is a fool; shun him.
"He who knows NOT, and KNOWS that he knows not,
is an unpolished gem; teach him.
"He who KNOWS, but knows NOT that he knows,
is asleep; awaken him.
"He who KNOWS, and KNOWS that he knows,
is a leader; follow him."
John Kerry is clearly….in my view….in the first category. Therefore, he
should be shunned.
However, the big question this November will be, "For whom will the 50 million
who voted for Gore, in 2000, vote this time?"

Said of Kerry on Late Night Television:
"The Secret Service has announced it is doubling its protection for John Kerry.
You can understand why - with two positions on every issue, he has twice as
many people mad at him." - Jay Leno
"John Kerry will undergo surgery to repair his right shoulder. He originally
hurt it when he suddenly switched positions on Iraq." - Craig Kilborn
"President Bush listed his income as $822,000. You know what John Kerry calls
someone who earns $822,000? Not even worth dating." - Jay Leno
"We make jokes about it but the truth is this presidential election really
offers us a choice of two well-informed opposing positions on every issue. OK,
they both belong to John Kerry, but they're still there." - Jay Leno
"Well, the good news for Democrats, now over half the country can identify a
picture of John Kerry. The bad news, the majority still thinks he's the dad
from 'The Munsters.' " - Jay Leno
"John Kerry accused President Bush of catering to the rich. You know, as
opposed to John Kerry who just marries them." - Jay Leno
"They say John Kerry is the first Democratic presidential candidate in history
to raise $50 million in a 3-month period. Actually, that's nothing. He once
raised $500 million with 2 words: 'I do.' " - Jay Leno
"Today, John Kerry announced a foolproof plan to wipe out the $500 Billion
deficit. John Kerry has a plan: he's going to put it on his wife's Gold
Card."
