Having lived through the worst with Andrew I can't understand that either.
I wouldn't wish that on anyone, and am so glad all are okay. My nephew was
north of the worst--just talked to him. Bob's brother's trailer home is
okay--storm stayed south. It hit Orlando and Kissimmee, but was down to
category 2 by then. Still no fun, for sure, but major structural damage
should be spared. Even in Sanibel and Port Charlotte, newer houses that
were up to hurricane code fared pretty well. People grumble about the
newer codes in force since Andrew, because they add to the expense of new
homes, but I bet they aren't grumbling now if they were in the path of this
one!!!
Lets hope it doesn't strengthen when it gets out over the water again. They
don't think it will, but while they do a much better job of predicting now,
these storms can still pull some surprises.
