Have you rebooted? That alone often shakes gremlins out of Word. Bizarre
problems in Word are often caused by low memory resources -- rebooting
refreshes that memory.

The number of AutoText entries is only limited by hard drive space. There
is a limit to the number of AutoCorrect entries (approximately 7,000);
however, you can run into resource memory problems long before you reach
that limit.

Have you run a virus scan? Have you installed new software recently? Are
all patches for Word 97 installed? Which version of Windows are you working
in?

Do you have a backup of your normal.dot file that you can copy back to your
hard drive? Normal.dot stores AutoText entries and formatted AutoCorrect
entries (acl file stores unformatted AutoCorrect entries). There's a
possibility you have corruption in the normal.dot.
