Winter Predictions

Don't shoot me for asking this in August, but has anyone heard what the
weather predictions are for the 2004-05 winter season?

My neighbor, who knows lots of weather folklore, says her cats are getting
their winter coats already, so that means it's going to be an early and cold
winter.
