I need to convert standard cassette tapes to digital format so I can
send the digital audio files out to be transcribed. If this sounds
familiar, I've asked this question before. I've tried probably all the
previous suggestions as far as cables, editing software, etc., but I
cannot for the life of me get a decent clear (or partly clear) digital
copy that you can actually understand what the people are saying. It's
not a volume problem. There's just a lot of everything else; all kinds
of funny noises that certainly were not on the tape.
There is some equipment out there that converts analog to digital
format. Has anyone used any of these devices and did it work? Here are
two examples of the devices I've seen: Lucid AD 9624 ($800) and
ADTC-2000 (under $60). The ADTC looks like just a cable with a box in
the middle of the cable. The Lucid thingy is a stand-alone box.
Another question. Would it be possible to hook up a standard cassette
player or transcriber (or something) directly to a .dss digital recorder
and transfer/copy the tape recordings that way. Any suggestions on the
brands or models that could possible do this? So far, haven't found any
online info from the digital recorder companies about this. Really,
really, really want to stay with .dss format because we use dial-up.
Any suggestions/help/advice would be appreciated.
Barb
