OT: Need advice ASAP

Sorry for reposting this but I realized that my original subject line might
have been too specific and someone who might have some advice to offer
wouldn't read it.

This is going to sound like one of those sob stories on another board
but I'm not asking for money, just some advice. Anyone have any to offer?

My son needs a place to stay in or near Virginia Beach. This is the one who
got a teaching job there.
They gave him 3 days notice to get there and he won't have a paycheck until
September 30. He's been staying with a school administrator but her husband
has taken a dislike to Nick (called him an idiot for moving there without a
plan and generally made him feel like crawling back to Michigan and
McDonalds) and they want him out by Friday.

He found a hotel that would rent him a room on a weekly basis for $210/week
but there are drug dealers next door and hookers on the corner. Anything
else is way beyond his means right now. Prices will probably come down some
after Labor Day.

If anyone knows of a room he can rent for a few weeks or even a month or
two, please please let me know ASAP. He has situational anxiety which he had
well under control with Paxil but he's been off it since March because he
didn't have insurance and couldn't afford it. He called me almost in tears.
He wants to give up and go back to Michigan but his wife (who is still in
Michigan) said "over my dead body." Good for her! They are newlyweds and
she's his rock. This is the first time they've ever been apart. I'm going to
contact his her and see if he has a current prescription so I can have some
sent to him but that still won't get him a place to live.

Unfortunately, I'm not much help. I don't have credit cards and no decent
cash for another couple of weeks. So I can't put him up in a hotel or pay
his rent and security deposit on an apartment at this point. Hubby has
decided to drive down there tomorrow and see what he can do to help, given
our limited finances.
