I copied tapes using a RadioShack brand recorder and my Olympus DS330 digital
recorders using the cable that came with the digital recorders. I took my
digital recorder, the cable it came with and a tape with me to the store. I
found that the price of the tape recorder was a direct reflection on the sound
quality it produced and that the digital recorder was sure to duplicate. If the
tape quality is horrendous, chances are there won't be anything you can do, but
I've had some real winners in that arena and the good tape recorder made THE
difference for me. I found that using the transcriber for the playing source
produced terrible sound quality as well.
