Always behind the times, I was the last one who went to a computer from the
typewriter, and I guess it's the same with digital and tapes.
I dub digital onto tapes real time, and it is very time consuming. I've got
the Stop-Start, Sony, and FTR Gold pedals, but I don't like them. The pedals
seems sluggish (IMO).
I have a 3-head Marantz recorder. Utilizing a patch cord with an eighth-inch
plug on each end (same size as most headphones), I get a crystal-clear
recording from digital to tape. I plug the patch cord in the side of my
Marantz recorder in the TEL hole as opposed to the MIC hole. These patch cords
can be purchased at Radio Shack (cheap).
I do learn a lot from this NG about digital, something I am going to have to
become acquainted with soon. I get many jobs on CD's and DVD's these days.
Here are a couple of GREAT links for digital AND tape equipment:
http://www.transcriptiongear.com
http://www.martelelectronics.com
Both of those companies provide digital equipment of all kinds.
Martel Electronics is in California, and I've been doing business with them for
over 20 years. Very reliable, and you can actually speak to a human being on
the phone and ask questions! ;>)
