OT: possible to upgrade

I've got a new computer picked out--well, narrowed down to two, but I really
want XP Pro. Both come with XP Home. Is it possible to upgrade to Pro?

But what exactly does XP Home come with? I need Excel, Word and would like
Publisher but only Excel and Word are a requirement with me. Are either of
these (or a compatible program) on Home?
