Want to try Microsoft Office for 60 days before you buy?

http://www.microsoft.com/office/trial/default.mspx

This will show you a variety of options -- I just downloaded Word,
Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint, all good until 11/30/04. It took 1
hour on cable modem, but it worked in the background, and I was able to
work during the download.

If you don't want to download, you can order the CD for $7.95. I have
the Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 Evaluation Kit which
includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access; I was also given
the choice of 1 other program and chose Publisher -- I think InfoPath,
FrontPage, Visio, and Project are available. Of course I can't say
enough good about OneNote, the electronic notebook that I call a "tool
for thinkers" -- you can download the 60-day trial: academic price
$49. All of these trials revert to "reduced functionality" when they
expire -- meaning you can still look at and access your work, just not
add to it; you then purchase a product key online if you want full
access.

Once you've decided, is there a school-aged person in your family,
K-college? If so, you qualify for the academic version of Office,
which is quite a bit cheaper than the Standard version but has the same
features. You might be able to buy this product outright from amazon
or CompuServe -- do a Froogle search for Office academic.
HTH.

Feel free to email me if I can help with specific questions.
