If the "kooks" hadn't worked to get cigarette smoking banned in certain public
buildings, we would all still be breathing smoke in offices. If the "kooks"
hadn't worked to bring perfume sensitivity/allergies to light, we would still
be getting sprayed with chemicals when walking into department stores.
You can call it paranoia, you can call it whatever you want. If I have a
sensitivity/allergy to something i.e. food, chemicals, smoke, whatever, I have
a right to not be subjected to it without advance notice and given the
opportunity to avoid it.
The world's right to wear whatever or add whatever agent to food or our water
system ends at my face. The whole argument about whether something is "good for
you" or "but I like that scent" or "but that tastes good," is not the point.
The point is that people with allergies/sensitivities, even just disliking a
taste or a scent, have a right to not be subjected to that chemical, food
(again, WHATEVER) without, at the very least, advance notice.
Cocaine would also still be in Coca-Cola, but I guess that would be okay since
it wouldn't offend "most" people. Lead in paint would still be on cribs,
etc......
