I thought it was an OK movie, but as I anticipated, the beauty of her
writing did not show up in the film. Also, so much was left out of the
movie, things that made it such a good book... foreshadowing, etc. Also,
they changed the location of the birth, which I don't understand. In the
book she had the baby in the barn. It described the birth, and how she
reached up on the wall and took the shears and cut the cord. Why change it
to by the pond? In the book there was much more about Katie's dead sister,
and about her relationship with her Amish "intended".

I wish they would make it a 2-part or how ever many parts it takes to tell
the story exactly as the book tells it.
