Actually I believe it is A1c (with c subscripted).

It is not mandatory to cap things as trademarked in reports. Brand names may be
typed with initial cap only or with the manufacturer's scheme. Some drugs are
trademarked in all caps and that just looks funny in a report.

However, if you are working for a facility THEY should be setting these
standards, not individual doctors. If each doctor in a large facility were
allowed to make these kind of rules for things, it would be very, very
confusin.
