Uh, excuse me ... that's not true for ALL smokers.
I was a smoker who rationalized my attitude in several ways: [1] It relaxes
me, [2] It keeps the weight off, [3] I'm addicted.
But at no time did I ever say I wasn't at risk for lung cancer. But it was
my choice to make and a 50:50 chance at that: I may get lung cancer or I
may not get lung cancer. I basically felt the risk was worth taking, rather
than go through the withdrawal.
Did three times, and the last one stuck (it'll be 12 years on May 6, 2005).
