Dani, I hope you'll reconsider. As one of the originals signers of the
petition to start smt, I've been around here since its inception. I
assure you the nitpicking has always been here and probably always
will. I think part of it has to do with the kind of people who end up
in MT--they're usually intelligent people who have necessarily adopted
a "critical thinking" mode because of the nature of our jobs.
Sometimes that thinking gets a bit extreme <GG>, and when combined
with the reader/poster only skimming posts because of time
constraints, we get replies sometimes that are truly off-the-wall. To
those whom you respect, ask them to reread your post--to those who are
contentious and seem to question everything you say, just tell them
they obviously have misunderstood and then mentally "write them off"
if they persist. Their stuff usually dies a quick death if you let it
hang out there for the whole reading world to see! <GG>
