Well, neither of them probably anticipated the coverage the parents' going on
strike would bring. The son, particularly if he's the younger one, may have
been quite embarrassed and upset, and the mother may not quite have intended
that much humiliation for him. I might have followed my son in to console him,
too, given those circumstances.
