My best friend's husband died on Sunday morning. She also works for me. I
live in a very large Jewish community and several things came up that surprised
me, one being that we had no kosher certified deli or catering company.
But my question is, why do Chabad not believe in serving a meal following a
burial. I thought that I may have to drive into Los Angeles, when I was told
that it wouldn't matter because the rabbi wouldn't eat no matter what, that
they didn't believe in the meals, so that it didn't have to be kosher
certified.
Also in trying to get some answers to other questions I read several articls on
Taharah and it really fascinated me. I think that when I have heard of this in
the past, I just breezed over it and never really thought about the
implications.
The deceased is from South Africa, but this mother and mother are coming from
Israel, daughter from S.A. Funny how the traditions between Orthodox all over
the world are still different.
Are flowers used in this country, as well as the soil? I would appreciate any
information that you can give me.
