One place to vet charities is www.InterAction.org which requires that relief
organizations meet certain criteria in order to be a member. Or you can
check www.GuideStar.org for copies of IRS filings for not-for-profit
groups. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs maintains ReliefWeb that lists info by disaster. I happened to win
this week's football pool for the second time this year and am donating my
winnings to Doctors Without Borders (www.doctorswithoutborders.org).
