Good timing. I just killed myself yesterday, moving my son out. We'd
done this once before when he went off to the Orlando area for college
(degree in 14 mos.), and then he sat here in his tiny room for 2 years,
waiting for The Job. Got that about 3 months ago, bought himself a car,
and now is sick of the hour-long commute each way so off he went.
I thought I was fine until he hugged me goodbye this morning, but then
blubbered for a good while. I already redecorated his room before (which
irked him terribly), but am looking forward to moving into my new office
(once the dust bunnies are evicted). Luckily, I get a lot of thrills
from vicarious living, and know it'll be fun watching him grow up. Give
me a week for the pride to replace the hole in the household.
Of course, when my daughter goes I might have more trouble getting over
it. I shall endeavor to recapture my youth in the interim and get too
busy to have time to sulk then. Other mommies survive this--we can, too
(she said, optimistically).
