Ed,

You choice of words, beginning with the crack about it not being an ED
med, (not necessary at all to be said, just a 'smart-a' remark), your
sarcasm and superior attitude, have a tendency to irritate me.

I have explained ad nauseum that my post was actually an e-mail to my
doctor that I decided to post on SMT, partially to inform, but primarily
to see if anyone else has had experiences with Lipitor. Here is part of
an e-mail reply I received from my doctor at 10:48 p.m. last night:

...."It definitely sounds like a side effect of lipitor. I agree with
stopping the med. Let me get back with you on further recommendations
after I've reviewed your chart."

I am not making "ignorant choices based on something I read on the
internet." I have had three instances in my life that a medication
prescribed by a medical doctor almost killed me.

One such episode made my life so miserable, there did not seem to be any
reason to go on living. The doctor had what seemed like every test
known to him performed, but could not find the cause of my symptoms. I
just happened to mention the problems I was having to the pharmacist
when I got the medication refilled. He had not heard of symptoms like I
was having, but got concerned about me, very concerned, and did research
and called the company that manufactured the medicine, and found that,
in fact, this medication could cause those symptoms. He immediately
called me and let me know. I told the doctor at that time about what the
pharmacist had said - the doctor said "NO WAY!" but I quit the
medication I was taking and insisted he prescribe something else. The
symptoms stopped completely after that. Years later, after I became an
MT, I looked in my PDR and, sure enough, the symptoms I was having was
not listed as a side effect. I contacted the company, related my
experience in detail to the company, and now that particular symptom is
shown in their literature.
